Handicrafts in the Present and in the Future

The article examines contemporary research and policy approaches to handicraft, highlighting the changes in the understanding of its role. It shows how handicraft is moving beyond heritage and economic frameworks to become a space of social reflection and a site for questioning the relationships between knowledge, embodiment, technology, and creativity. Particular attention is given to traditional building knowledge and the analysis of Slovenian and European initiatives that position handicraft within sustainability and cultural policies for the future.
