Abstract

Water plays an important role in our everyday lives, so it is essential for children and young people to understand the importance of access to drinking water, the conservation of its sources, the power of water in the natural environment, and the measures for protection against it. At the Department of Environmental Civil Engineering (UL FGG) we have been organizing various activities to educate the young population and help teachers with this topic for more than five years. During that time, we have established numerous interesting workshops, which are constantly adjusted, upgraded, and updated. In general, they can be grouped as thematic presentations, measurements, simulations with physical models, and interactive games for testing knowledge and skills. Workshops are combined according to the teachers’ wishes. Such programmes can take a few school hours and can be integrated into a lesson or combined to organize a technical or project day at the school or at our faculty. The programme is prepared according to the desired length, targeted topic and age group of the participants.
