THE SEARCH AND RESCUE DOG HANDLERS OF THE CYNOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION SLOVENIA
Abstract
Work with search and rescue dogs (SAR dogs) has a more than 50 year tradition in the Cynological Association of Slovenia. Search and rescue dog handlers take part in real search missions for missing persons, and are activated through the Notification Centre when the police ask for the help of SAR dogs. The dogs and their handlers are also mobilized in the event of accidents such as explosions, building demolitions and landslides, and of course in the event of an earthquake. Besides their work in Slovenia, the SAR dogs and their handlers also take part in excercises, testing events and international mission readiness tests, as well as real missions following earthquakes all over the world.
