25 YEARS OF THE TRAINING CENTRE FOR CIVIL PROTECTION AND DISASTER RELIEF OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA
Abstract
The Training Centre for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief of the Republic of Slovenia is a special educational institution for protection against natural and other disasters, which has been operating under the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (ACPDR) since 1994. The Centre identifies training needs, develops programmes, and organizes the implementation of training programmes for all protection, rescue and relief forces. In all the years of its operation, over half a million participants from Slovenia and abroad have attended the different training courses and other activities in the Ig Centre, as well as in the Sežana, Pekre and Logatec units. The Centre is equipped with modern learning aids, technology and simulators. In the preparation and implementation of training courses and other activities, it cooperates with over 150 external experts – lecturers, instructors and other co-workers from the ACPDR, the Ministry of Defence and other ministries, professional and voluntary fire brigades, municipalities, companies, universities, institutes, research organizations, the Slovenian Armed Forces, the police, and other organizations. With its work so far, the Centre has become a national training hub for protection and rescue, and is also recognized in the international environment. We wish to further strengthen and upgrade all of its achievements, both in the training of all protection, rescue and relief forces and in international activities, something for which we at the ACPDR have understanding, support, and favourable conditions.
