THE MOUNTAIN RESCUE ASSOCIATION OF SLOVENIA AND ACCIDENTS ON DIFFICULT-TO-ACCESS TERRAIN IN 2018
Abstract
The Mountain Rescue Association of Slovenia, with 17 teams and stations of the Mountain Rescue Service, covers the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia. It brings together 750 members, of which 430 have rescue licences. To become licensed, mountain rescuers must pass an exam in winter and summer rescue techniques, an exam in first aid every year, and Module A of the Helicopter Rescue Training every three years. The number of accidents in the mountains and on difficult-to-access terrain has been increasing every year, and, unfortunately, has proven difficult to reduce.
