Abstract

Local communities are the foundation of providing for all the needs of their residents. This is especially true for communities inhabited by a large number of people. Local communities face numerous challenges in many areas. One of them is protection against natural and other disasters, which is the responsibility of local communities in most countries, and under which they provide basic security to their residents with basic rescue services. Spatial planning from the perspective of appropriate protection against natural and other disasters, the provision of medical care, basic rescue services, public utility services, etc., are just some of their duties. Cities are increasingly facing numerous challenges which require rapid and appropriate response to mitigate the effects and consequences of natural and other disasters. Modern development enables interconnection and mutual assistance in various areas and at different levels, in both cities and countries. The exchange of good practice, discussions about problems and their solutions, assistance in the event of disasters, networking, and the broadening of horizons are some of the positive aspects of international inter-city connection and cooperation. This article describes an example of such cooperation.
