EARTHQUAKES IN 2016

Abstract

The 26^th annual publication “Earthquakes in the year 2016”, published by the Seismology Office of the Slovenian Environment Agency, features ten professional articles from different fields of seismology. Four articles describe the Slovenian seismic network and its operation in 2016, its upgrading with accelerometers, and the solving of problems with accurate time. The most comprehensive article is devoted to earthquake activity during that year. It is followed by an analysis of the results of the modernisation of the national seismic network, and a description of the sonic boom of two aircraft above Slovenia as recorded by seismological stations. The next article presents the focal mechanisms of some of the stronger earthquakes in Slovenia, and the last is about the world’s largest earthquakes in 2016.
