45 YEARS OF OPERATION OF THE SHORT-PERIOD ANALOGUE SEISMOGRAPH WITH A PEN-AND-INK RECORDER AT THE GOLOVEC OBSERVATORY IN LJUBLJANA
Abstract
After the restoration of seismic observations in the Astronomical Geophysical Observatory after World War II, seismographs with photographic recorders were used to record earthquakes on photographic paper. This type of recording does not allow rapid analysis of the record of an earthquake, so it was decided to construct a seismograph which would record the oscillations of the earth with ink on paper, so that the record of an earthquake could be analyzed immediately. The basis of the seismograph was a bought Willmore Mk-II seismometer with the addition of a Günter Volk recorder, and the other components were made by experts at the observatory. The seismograph described is still in operation.
