HIGH WATER MARKS PLACEMENT IN SLOVENIA
Abstract
In 2014, the Hydrogeographic Commission at the Association of Slovenian Geographers initiated the placement high water marks. The aim of the campaign was to inform the inhabitants of the natural phenomenon of high waters, improve their knowledge of the impoundment of karst fields, flood prone areas around rivers, and remind them that, more or less frequently, the water needs additional space. Besides the official institutions, stakeholders, especially the local population, schools and the owners of buildings with the installed marks, are also included in the campaign.
