INVESTIGATION OF THE SCENE AND IDENTIFICATION OF VICTIMS DURING MAJOR DISASTERS
Abstract
In major disasters it is necessary to establish the identity of victims. This is done by the use of primary methods (fingerprints, DNA, dental record) and secondary methods (personal identity documents, personal descriptions such as clothes, personal belongings, tattoos, medical records etc.). The article describes the disaster scene investigation, the police disaster victim identification group, the identification procedure in accordance with the guidelines of Interpol, and the use of Interpol forms.
