EUROPEAN PROJECT ON CIVIL PROTECTION COOPERATION WITH WESTERN BALKAN COUNTRIES (IPA CP II PROJECT)

Abstract

Between 2013 and 2015, the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief managed and implemented the Civil Protection Cooperation Programme with the Western Balkan candidate countries and potential candidates – Phase II (IPA CP Cooperation Programme II). The programme objectives were to increase the ability of Western Balkan countries and Turkey to cooperate with the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, enabling effective response to natural and other disasters, and to help these countries further develop national disaster management systems and strengthen regional collaboration. Within the framework of the project, 68 events were organized, two of which were regional civil protection and disaster relief field exercises, attended by a total of about 2000 participants from the region.
