IMPACT OF SUMMER AND AUTUMN RAINFALL ANOMALY ON AGRICULTURE IN THE YEAR 2014
Abstract
In the year 2014, weather conditions – warm spring, wet summer, successive heavy rain and floods in September and during the last ten days of October 2014 – had unfavourable impact on plants. Coincidence of warm spring and early phenological development in connection to cold air outbreaks caused frost in some areas of Goriško region. Wet summer caused problems with yield quality, plants diseases and pests, catastrophical was also honey harvest. Due to frequent saturation of soil with water, harvest of some agricultural crops was hindered; preparation of agricultural fields for the further farm works was delayed. Due to extreme wetness in some flooded areas some technological measures, like organic fertilisation, were impossible.
