FLOODS IN THE WORLD IN 2014

Abstract

In year 2014 there were 179 major floods in the world (138 the year before). Most floods were recorded in Southeast Asia, the majority of them in India, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. In the year 2014 the floods resulted in the migration of 6.7 million people forced to leave homes due to high waters. There were 3.752 flood victims (16.000 the year before) and 15.5 million square kilometres of land were affected.
