GORENJSKA 2014 AIR ACCIDENT EXERCISE
Abstract
According to Slovenia’s Control and air navigation service, there were 1400 aircraft in Slovenia’s air space on the average every day in 2014 summer. It is a large number considering the size of Slovenia’s territory. The figure includes over-flights, landings and take-offs. The air traffic routes spread across our air space, which means that accidents involving aircraft can occur anywhere in Slovenia. This is true of the Gorenjska region as well.. It is a fact that the majority of accidents occur during take-off and landing. As the last major air accident exercise in the Gorenjska region took place in 2006, it made sense to organise such an exercise again in 2014.
