Abstract

The Seismology and Geology Office of the Slovenian Environment Agency published the 23nd annual publication, "Earthquakes in the year 2013". It brings nine professional articles from different areas of seismology. Three articles describe Slovenian seismological network and its operation in 2013. The main article is devoted to the earthquake activity in that year. The strongest earthquake according to its magnitude (3.6) and intensity (V-VI EMS-98) occurred on 16 June with the epicentre near Seč in Suha Krajina. It was followed by long-term increased seismic activity which extended also through year 2014. Three articles from the field of seismological instrumentation present the water level and temperature stability control system for seismological station shafts, seismological system for temporary deployments and applicability of surface seismometer at Podkum seismic station where a borehole seismometer is permanently installed. The article from the field of seismological analyses describes fault plane solutions of some stronger earthquakes. The last article presents world's largest earthquakes in 2013.
