GLOBAL CLIMATE CONDITIONS IN 2013
Abstract
2013 was one of the warmest years in the measurement era according to the global surface air temperature, while moderate in precipitation amount. It was much warmer in major part of the world than normally several decades ago. Reports about record heat came from Australia, Japan and central Europe. Unusual cold gripped especially northern Eurasia in March and Canada in December. Extremely abundant precipitation triggered March and December floods in Brasil and in June floods in central Europe and Himalaya. Northern part of the USA experienced several episodes of abundant snowfall. Drought was most devastating in southern and eastern China and in northeastern Brasil as well.
