FLOODS IN THE WORLD IN 2013
Abstract
In 2013, there were 138 major floods in the world (157 in 2012). Most floods were in Southeast Asia, most of them in China, Indonesia, the Philippines and India. The 2013 floods resulted in the migration of 19.9 million people who were forced to leave their homes due to high waters. There were at least 16,000 flood victims (17,000 in 2011 and 5,000 in 2012). Floods affected 16.1 million square kilometres of land.
