RECORDING OF EXTRA-TROPICAL CYCLONES FROM THE NORTH ATLANTIC AT THE SEISMIC NETWORK OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA
Abstract
In October 2013, the extra-tropical cyclone formed in the western Atlantic caused huge material damage in several countries of northwestern Europe, and deaths as well. The Seismic Network of the Republic of Slovenia monitored some of its phases by recording a seismic signal called primary microseism. This article describes the origin of the primary microseism and the impact of extra-tropical cyclones that occur in the winter in the North Atlantic, on the increased signal of the primary microseism.
