ANALYSIS OF FLOOD WAVES IN SLOVENIAN WATER COURSES
Abstract
Analysis of individual elements of flood waves is only one of the steps towards a better understanding of several dependent hydrological processes, such as floods, droughts or extreme rainfall events. The study examines a correlation between peak discharges, flood wave volumes and durations, and the data obtained from 50 hydrological heterogeneous watersheds in Slovenia. In total, more than 2,500 years of daily discharge data have been analyzed. The findings suggest that individual variables which define the flood wave depend on certain geographical characteristics of the selected gauging stations.
