Abstract

An important part of the activities of the International Consortium on Landslides (ICL, Kyoto, Japan) is the organization of the world landslide forums every third year; the first two were held in Tokyo (2008) and in Rome (2011). This paper reports on the work of the World Landslide Forum 3 that was held in Beijing, China, between 2nd and 6th June 2014, and on the visits to the catastrophic landslides triggered by the Ms 8.0 Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 which were organized in the context of a technical field trip to the Sichuan Province. World Landslide Forum 4 will be held in Ljubljana between 29th May and 2nd June 2017.
