ON TERMS SUCH AS ACCIDENT, NATURAL DISASTER, NATURAL CATASTROPHE AND NATURAL CATACLYSM
Abstract
In Slovenian language, the term natural disaster (orig. Slovene naravna nesreča) has been used to refer to a whole range of events, ranging from a (fatal) accident of an individual in a natural environment to a large-scale natural catastrophe or world cataclysm. This paper discusses the use of the selected English phrases, i.e. natural accident, natural (elementary) disaster, natural catastrophe, and natural cataclysm in Slovenian, drawing parallels with the use of English expressions.
