CLIMATE CONDITIONS IN THE WORLD IN 2012
Abstract
Global air temperature and precipitation amount in 2012 did not deviate from the conditions of last few years. Many regions in Europe, USA and Japan coped with unbearable heat during summer. January, February and December brought extreme cold to northeastern North America and the interior of Eurasia. Abundant rainfall took the highest toll in east and south Asia as well as in Central Africa. Many other places, such as Great Britain, Australia and Spain also registered extreme rainfall conditions. USA coped with an immense drought the second year in a row and wildfires did considerable damage too. Wildfires were also raging across the Mediterranean countries and Siberia. New climate milestones were set in far north – record ice and snow melt.
