CLIMATE IN SLOVENIA IN 2012
Abstract
The mean annual temperature in 2012 was above the 1961–1990 average, and ranks among the few warmest ever. The anomaly was between 1 and 3 °C. Most of the months were warmer than the long-term average, but February was markedly colder. Summer was the second warmest ever. Lack of precipitation was observed in the first 3 months of the year. On the Coast, drought persisted also during spring. Severe drought was observed in summer. Due to abundant precipitation on 5 and 6 November, extensive flood took place in most parts of the country. Bright sunshine duration was above the average in winter, spring and summer. In autumn, due to cloudy weather and frequent precipitation, less bright sunshine duration than the average amount was observed. Annual bright sunshine duration in Ljubljana exceeded the average by one third and was the sunniest year ever.
