Abstract

Earthquake activity in Slovenia in 2012 was lower than a year before. Seismic Network of the Republic of Slovenia (SNRS) recorded 1618 local earthquakes, fourteen with local magnitude higher than or equal to 2.0. The inhabitants felt more than 42 earthquakes, two among them reached maximum intensity V EMS-98. The strongest earthquake occurred on 3 December at 4.36 UTC (5.36 Central European Time (CET)) with epicentre near Zgornji Tuhinj. Its local magnitude was 3.8 (ARSO, 2012–2013) and the highest intensity V EMS-98. In the epicentral area, the earthquake caused minor non-structural damage to individual buildings.
