STORM WINDS IN SLOVENIA IN 2011
Abstract
Windiness in selected areas in Slovenia in 2011 was mostly below average. During summer months, the wind mostly caused local damage during storms, while spring and winter months were characterised by the bora wind in the Primorska region. During storms, the wind caused less damage than in 2008 and 2009. Between 1 and 2 March, the bora wind in the Primorska region blew with hurricane strength, but caused less damage than the bora of March 2010. Strong bora winds in the Vipava Valley resulted in 37 days of road closures of different durations.
