Abstract

The Sava River, along which run the rail and road traffic in the Zasavje region, has gained notoriety for its unpredictability, difficult access and poor visibility in emergency responders’ perception. Its rapids and a mysterious river bed are an attraction for clubs and individuals fond of water sports and water-related activities. The Sava 2011 exercise was organised and conducted under the scenario that two raft boats carrying a large number of tourist passengers capsize due to collision on the Sava River rocks near a railway tunnel at the Trbovlje Thermal Power Plant. Some of the injured are washed ashore of the Sava River, while the others drift with the river flow downstream.
