CLIMATE CONDITIONS IN THE WORLD IN 2010
Abstract
Climate conditions in 2010 were unusually varied. In many places, the general atmospheric flow was extreme for a longer period of time, thus causing numerous weather extremes. The year started with a pronounced El Ninño phase and ended with a pronounced La Ninña. The most memorable events were a record-breaking summer heatwave in Russia and catastrophic floods in Pakistan. The mass balance of the Greenland ice sheet reached its minimum value since the beginning of more extensive measurements.
