CLIMATE IN SLOVENIA IN 2010
Abstract
The mean temperature in the year 2010 was above the 1961–1990 normals except in the mountains with the anomaly of 0.2°C. In the Koroška, Northern Štajerska and the Pomurje region the anomaly exceeded 1°C. The largest anomaly was observed in July and November. October and December were colder than on average, in the reference period. Precipitation exceeded 3200 mm in a part of the Posočje region. On the Kredarica Mountain 2343 mm were registered. In Portorož a record amount of precipitation was registered with 1394 mm, which is 40 % more than on the long-term average. In Ljubljana 1798 mm fell. This has been the second most abundant precipitation since the beginning of measurements. Maribor got only 868 mm, which corresponds to 83 % of the normals. In July some severe thunderstorms and a heatwave were observed. In September 2010, very intense rain caused extensive flooding that resulted in significant damage. In Ljubljana and Bilje the duration of solar radiation was above the normals, but most of the country observed less sunny weather than the long-term average.
