ACPDR IN THE INTERVENTION AT A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT ON A HIGHWAY NEAR GROSUPLJE
Abstract
On 27 November 2010, a major traffic accident involving 38 cars happened on the motorway Obrežje–Ljubljana in the vicinity of Grosuplje. The accident claimed three lives and twenty injured victims, six of whom suffered major and fourteen of them minor injuries. The rescue operation was launched quickly and was conducted in a coordinated manner, given the fact that the accident occurred at 14.35 and the last injured victim was taken to the Ljubljana University Medical Centre at around 19.00. Successful emergency response was the result of a well coordinated action among rescue services, fire fighters and the police. The investigation has shown that the main reason of the accident was speeding.
