SOME TECTONIC, SEISMOTECTONIC AND SEISMOLOGICAL TERMS – PART 3
Abstract
Part 3, similar to Part 1 and 2 (Lapajne, 2008, 2009), offers proposals and explanations of some Slovene tectonic, seismotectonic and seismological terms, which are important for engineering seismology, earthquake engineering and related sciences. English translations of the treated terms are provided and a corresponding English-Slovene dictionary is enclosed. Some terms are taken from the existing Slovene terminological dictionaries. However, many of the proposed terms are not included in any published Slovene technical dictionary, although some of them are used in practice in more or less appropriate forms. The author apologizes for any mistakes made in this proposal of terms. As already emphasized in the first part, the author’s main intention was to challenge and to encourage Slovene geologists and seismologists to fill the gaps in Slovene seismological terminology.
