CLIMATE IN SLOVENIA IN 2009
Abstract
In 2009, the mean annual temperature significantly exceeded the norms; in the Alps the anomaly was below 1 °C, elsewhere it was between 1 °C and 2 °C. The smallest amount of precipitation was observed in Spodnje Štajersko (861 mm), on the coast (932 mm) and in the Prekmurje region (989 mm), whereas in part of Zgornje Posočje the amount exceeded 3,000 mm. Sunshine duration in 2009 exceeded the long-term average; the greatest exceedance was observed in the central part of Slovenia, part of the Štajerska region and in the Goriška region. On the coast, a day of snow cover was observed. The snow in Ljubljana persisted for 42 days, with a maximum depth of 23 cm; on Kredarica, the maximum snow cover depth was 560 cm.
