AVALANCHES IN THE CENTRAL KARAVANKE MOUNTAINS
Abstract
Avalanches are common in the Karavanke mountains. They occur annually and cause damage to forests and infrastructure. The area of central Karavanke mountains has been poorly represented in the national cadastral avalanche register, but this does not mean that avalanches do not occur here. The fact that the area of central Karavanke mountains is at risk is also confirmed by the number of avalanche accidents that occurred in the past.
