INTERNATIONAL RESCUE OPERATIONS AND EXPERIENCES WITH DEPLOYMENT OF SLOVENIAN CIVIL PROTECTION AND DISASTER RELIEF EXPERTS
Abstract
Provision of relief to other countries hit by a disaster is one of the tasks of Slovenian system of protection against natural and other disasters. International rescue operations conducted as part of international operations and missions also include the deployment of protection, rescue and relief experts. The article deals with two examples of experiences by the Republic of Slovenia in deploying its experts to the affected areas in other countries. Within the EU civil protection mechanism, experts may be deployed as members of EU teams for situation assessment and/or coordination of relief to EU member states or as technical experts.
