CLIMATE IN SLOVENIA IN 2008
Abstract
The average temperature for 2008 was significantly above the 1961–1990 normal range. In most measuring sites 2008 was among the ten warmest years on record. The biggest anomalies were in January and February, while September was the only month with a negative temperature anomaly. The long-term average precipitation for 1961–1990 was exceeded in most of Slovenia with exceptions in southwestern Slovenia, northeastern and eastern Slovenia and Karavanke. The biggest variation was recorded in northwestern Slovenia. At the end of November and in December snow cover was unusually deep in the western part of the Julian Alps.
