STORM WINDS IN SLOVENIA IN 2007
Abstract
In Slovenia in 2007, the windiness as a whole was average, with the exception of Vipavska dolina and the coastal region where it was below average. In the first half of the year, winds caused the greatest damage in January when cyclone Kyrill moved accross Europe, while in the second half of the year, the worst damages were recorded around the year-end when bora hit the Littoral region, and during thunderstorms. Storm with the strongest winds hit Slovenia on 24 July, 17 August and 28 September. Due to strong bora, the Vipavska Valley main road experienced a total of 29 days traffic block, with different durations.
