THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION FOR THE NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE MONITORING NETWORK
Abstract
In the event of earthquakes, notifying the public and competent services depends on quality of communications, primarily seismic data transmission to the Centre for Data Analysis. Since 1985, when 4 seismic stations were in operation in Slovenian territory, and until today, the system of communication has dramatically changed and improved. Today information about earthquakes is available to the public minutes after the earthquake has occurred.
