PROTECTION AND DISASTER RELIEF DAYS IN NOVA GORICA
Abstract
From 18 to 20 October last year, Nova Gorica was the location for the 2nd protection and disaster relief days, which were organised by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief and the City of Nova Gorica. With the cooperation of members of the Civil Protection from the province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in neighbouring Italy, the event has become international. Through the protection and disaster relief days the organisers wanted to raise awareness among the public that in the event of a major natural or social disaster, they will not be left to themselves, and that in any event there will be help forthcoming from members of the system of protection from natural and other disasters. Another important message to visitors was that members of the public can contribute a great deal to their own safety and that of their property and the environment in which we live. The events in Nova Gorica were viewed by between 6,000 and 7,000 visitors, including 2,300 schoolchildren and pre-schoolers.
