BETWEEN PANIC AND INDIFFERENCE
Abstract
Different aspects of warning are discussed. The contribution begins with some more general models, such as dynamic nature of risk perception, Wogalter’s C-HIP model, Renn’s organisational structure of risk communication, Kasperson’s model of risk amplification, and then shift to a more detailed presentation of specific factors of efficient warning, such as trust in the source, message characteristics, the problem of fear and its use in messages etc. The paper presents only a small segment of risk communication knowledge.
