SISMA PROJECT
Abstract
The aim of the SISMA project is to contribute to the protection of human life in old towns during earthquakes. The aim should be achieved by the use of a common methodology by involved European regions or countries from the CADSES area, The knowledge obtained will serve for planning measures in the event of earthquakes. Within the framework of the project, the inhabitants of selected towns were informed of the risk level of their town. In a series of exercises (measures during earthquakes) the population used the knowledge gained, as the first rescuers in the event of a powerful earthquake. Representatives of the Office of Seismology and Geology observed the exercises, which mainly involved measures by the inhabitants during an earthquake, as well as measures by other civilian protection bodies in the second phase. In Italy, we observed exercises in Montone, Forli, Santa Sofia and Bagno di Romagna.
