ESTONIAN SYSTEM OF PROTECTION AND RESCUE
Abstract
The Estonian system of protection and rescue is a uniform national system for responding to natural and other disasters. The Estonian Rescue Board is an independent government institution within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has a leading role in planning preparedness for disasters as well as taking operational measures in the event of a natural or other disaster. The Estonian Rescue Board lays great stress on preventive activities and informing people about potential dangers and how to behave so as to avoid risks, and thus contribute to a safer environment and a reduction in accidents.
