STORM WINDS IN SLOVENIA IN 2005

Abstract

Wind was below average in Slovenia in 2005. As each year, but this year it was even more pronounced, wind did damage in the first half and at the end of the year with the burja (north wind) in Primorska, and in the middle of the year throughout Slovenia during storms. A young girl died as a result of strong wind during a storm on 29 June. There was a total of 46 days in which mains roads in the Vipava valley were closed to traffic for various durations.
