TERRORIST THREATS TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA
Abstract
Terrorism represents one of the key complex security threats, due to the multitude of causes, motives, methods and consequences. In the process of threat assessment, one needs to consider terrorism in its entire complexity (elementary, specific and supportive terrorist activities). A short analysis of some indicators of terrorist threats to Slovenia has shown that the threat currently (February 2006) remains low. Terrorist threats emanate from foreign countries and not from Slovenia itself. Consequently, threat assessments need to focus on terrorist threats in neighbouring countries and SEE. Public opinion analysis has similarly shown that the Slovenian public perceives the threat of terrorism as of low intensity.
