HIGH DISCHARGE MEASUREMENTS OF SLOVENE RIVERS USING ACOUSTIC PROFILERS
Abstract
From the point of view of the intensity of high discharge conditions, 2005 was fairly rich. This is particularly true for the second half of the year. Taking discharge measurements under such conditions is a special experience both for the equipment and for the person taking the measurements. Both are exposed to certain risks, so great care and training are required. The practical experience gained in such conditions is invaluable for preserving and ensuring the quality of data in the future. The contribution describes the principle of taking discharge measurement with Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), with a stress on taking measurements during floods. Practical experience and recommendations of taking measurements are supplemented by specific results of high discharge measurements of Slovene rivers in 2005.
