FEDERAL AGENCY FOR TECHNICAL RELIEF OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY – THW
Abstract
THW (Technisches Hilfswerk) is the Federal Agency for Technical Relief of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its statutory tasks include the provision of technical assistance at home and humanitarian aid abroad. Since 1950 THW has been a fundamental pillar of national civil protection and disaster relief in Germany. Today, more than 76.000 volunteers, as well as roughly 850 full-time employees, work for the federal THW organization. The THW focuses on recovery, clearing, search and detection, electricity supply, water damage/pumps, drinking water supply, bridge building, logistics.
