CONFERENCE MARKING THE CENTENNIARY OF THE SAN FRANCISCO EARTHQUAKE

Abstract

An international conference was held in San Francisco from 17 to 21 April 2006 to mark the centenniary of the earthquake in that city. The stress of the conference, at which there were more than 2500 participants, was the exchange of experience and knowledge in three areas: seismology, earthquake engineering and measures at the time of earthquakes. The conference was organised by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the Seismological Society of America and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. The common thread of all presentations was the idea – how to take measures in earthquake regions.
