RECULTIVATION OF ‘CALCIT’ QUARRY

Abstract

The »Calcit« quarry cuts into the SE slopes of the valley of the Kamniška Bistrica mountain stream immediately before the settlement of Stahovica. The manager of the quarry, the company CALCIT d. d., began to extract calcite and limestone by the top down method in 1996, and thus enabled the concurrent revitalisation or recultivation of each level already exploited. The article presents the course of recultivation of the northern part of the quarry, with which the project planner and implementer PUH d. d., began in 2001, immediately after exploitation of the highest levels.
