OPENING OF THE SEISMIC MONITORING STATIONS NETWORK IN THE LJUBLJANA REGION
Abstract
On 28 September 2004, the Minister of the Environment , Spatial Planning and Energy, Mag. Janez Kopač, formally opened the Seismic Monitoring Stations Network around the capital Ljubljana, which is one of the regions in Slovenia most thretaened by earthquakes. The opening took place on Črni Vrh above Polhov Gradec. There are additional new monitoring stations of the Ljubljana network on Vrh pri Dolskem, Gorenja Brezovica and Možjanca. The fifth seismic monitoring station is the observatory on Golovec in Ljubljana, which has been operating continuously since 1958. The Director of the Environmental Agency RS, Dr. Silvo Žlebir, also spoke.
