Abstract

Many earthquakes occur every day, but most of them are so weak that we cannot feel them. In the same way, important life events can shake human souls and make them crack. We don’t even notice, and can easily cope with, some of the quakes. The others tend to make us stiff and unable to catch our breath. Such are tragic losses of family members and friends, assaults, kidnappings... and the most frequent - traffic or working accidents and natural disasters, such as earthquakes. Critical incidents can cause more or less intensive physical, emotional and cognitive reactions. Most of them vanish by themselves after a period of time, whereas others can require help.
