EARTHQUAKES IN SLOVENIA IN 2001
Abstract
The year 2001 was a year of moderate seismic activity in Slovenia. The strongest earthquake happened on 16 March 2001 at 0629 UTC (7:29 local time) near Podčetrtek, NE Slovenia. Its local magnitude was 2.8 and the maximum intensity V EMS-98 was measured in two localities. The strongest earthquake outside our borders was felt on 17 July at 1506 UTC. Its epicentre was in Italy in Alto Adige, and its local magnitude, as calculated from the seismograms recorded in Ljubljana, was 4.7. In all, the inhabitants of Slovenia have felt at least 47 earthquakes.
