OPENING OF THE SEISMIC MONITORING STATIONS NETWORK NEAR THE KRŠKO NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (NPP)
Abstract
On May 28, 2002, Janez Kopač, M.Sc., Minister of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy, opened the seismic monitoring stations network near the Krško Nuclear Power Plant. At the opening, Dr. Andreja Čerček-Hočevar, Director of the Environmental Agency, and Mr. Erwan Fouere, the head of the European Commission delegation to Slovenia, also gave speeches. Setting up four seismic monitoring stations around the Krško NPP is a part of the modernization of the seismic monitoring stations network in Slovenia. The basic purpose of the modernization is to set up a network which will enable the public to be informed about basic earthquake parameters in real time.
